Talking Temple!

Rendering of the Indianapolis Temple
Located at 11565 Temple Drive, Carmel IN
The open house begins July 17th

This week all we have been doing is talking about the temple! 5 and 1/2 weeks until the open house! Woooooooo! I am so excited. We have no clue if and what we will be helping with. But I do know that we will be helping with the temple a lot! We have been trying to get the members inspired on inviting people an get them excited about going to the open house. It is not hard to do because they are just as excited as we are!

We had stake conference this week! All the missionaries in the stake were asked to sing at the adult session! It was good! We sang Dear to the Heart of the Shepard! If you look at the lyrics it has a great meaning behind it! It talks about finding the lost sheep. We all have a duty to find the lost sheep! I also learned during stake conference that I need to be turning outward instead on inward!

Well our investigators this week are kinda not doing well. haha. Pamela moved to Indianapolis! But we still keep in contact with her! Which is good! She still wants to be baptized but we will have to sent the indy missionaries over to her! Pamela and Greg are stalled right now. They think of us as friends more than missionaries that are there to teach them. So we are in the process of finding lots of more people to teach that will actually keep commitments! We found some kinda solid people! Johnathan we found while on exchanges. We stopped by on Saturday and he said he forgot about our appointment. He has been through a lot! We rescheduled and gave him a plan of salvation pamphlet to read before we come back. He seems pretty sincere. We hope to be getting to someone to church next week! Church is just wonderful!

Training I think I am getting more used to it and am not as stressed as I used to be! Well I know in the olden days you guys had to pass off lessons. We don't do that today. There are some things we still have to memorize. President does not let trainees drive. Senior comps drive and that is it.
I have no clue why but i didn't take any pictures this week. I think I did get a little bit of a sunburn though. I will have to take more pictures next week! Love you all!

Everything happened this week!

Some of Allyson's district
Well it has been getting more humid and I found out my hair gets really wavy when it rains and i just let it dry out. So far humidity isn't too bad! On other news the Temple open house is coming soon! Pretty sure it will be here in 6 weeks! That is so soon!

Alright so I bet you don't remember but I do! We got back in contact with a lady named Beth. Don't know how she feels about baptism because we didn't get to that when we talked to her. But she is doing well and probably will be moving to Ft. Wayne! haha But the missionaries found her here! So it is great the Lord knows what he is doing!

Greg and Pamela! They are working all the time but we got back in contact with them also! Turns out her son-in-law did not like it when we came over. He moved out last week. So now they answer back to text messages and us knocking on the door! They are funny! Greg is still trying to grasp the concept of God but he listens when we talk! Still trying to get them to read the BOM.

Oh I spoke in church this Sunday and i was only assigned to give 15 minutes but the other 2 people went short so I actually spoke for about 25 minutes! That was great! I am actually starting to enjoy giving talks! I also noticed people were paying attention! I gave a talk on Chapter 11 in Preach My Gospel! And talked about inviting! I think why they asked us to speak was to inspire the members to invite everyone they know to the temple!

Lately I have been able to know how the Spirit talks to me better. Whenever I am praying I get promptings! And it is just cool to see what comes to me!

Love you all! Have a wonderful day!

Allyson's Call To Be A Missionary Trainer

Sister Hanson with Sister Perkins from Herriman

Dear Brother & Sister Hanson,
Your daughter, Sister Allyson Marie Hanson, has been assigned to train a new missionary. The position of trainer only comes to missionaries who have demonstrated the highest level of trust, obedience and diligence.  A new missionary's trainer sets the standard and establishes the framework for the entirety of the new missionary's mission experience. We have every confidence in Sister Hanson and know that she will be a great blessing to her new companion.
We appreciate your love of and support for Sister Hanson.  Those acts have helped prepare her for this new assignment.
Sincerely,
Steven C. Cleveland

Transfers and a Trainee to go with it!

Well this week was crazy! First off news on iPads! All missions in north america will be getting them either in September or December! That means I will have an iPad like the last 4 months of my mission. haha! The biggest thing is that the temple open house is in 7 weeks! Ahhhhh it is coming soon and there is no slowing down. President has made it mandatory to go finding 3 hours a day and we have been talking to all the members about inviting all their friends to the temple! I am so EXCITED for the TEMPLE. Our mission has already seen so many miracles because of it!

Okay my new trainee is Sister Perkins. She is from Herriman Utah (which is pretty close). If any of you know Tyrone Michallis (well she is dating him). She is 20 years old (her birthday was when she was in the MTC). Sister Perkins is great. She jumps in during lessons (which I never did in training haha). I am still adjusting with training. I get stressed out sometimes because President expects us to be diligent, obedient, and consistent. I am trying to fulfill those shoes as much as possible!

Update on investigators! Pamela is doing well. She still has yet to come to church! We have been trying to find out why she won't because we have a ride for her every week! We met with her today and she almost cried. It makes me sad to see people struggling. I want to promise them that if they would just come to church that it would make life so much better! I know going to church helps so much!

Greg and Pamela. The family we were teaching. We have not been able to get in contact with them since Sister Lowry left! Sometimes that happens when things change. We are doing lots of finding lately. Talking to people about the restoration and the Book of Mormon and especially the Temple!

I have been working on Faith a lot! Go look up Hebrews chapter 11! It gives so many instances of faith! Faith is something we must work on all the time or we will lose it! Faith is something we act upon everyday! If we do not act on it our faith does not grow! Understanding the basic principles in the gospel is going to be the very foundation that we are built on! Go look up 3 Nephi 11:40 It talks a lot about faith!

Well I love you all! Have a wonderful week! I know if you read your scriptures every day and pray you will never fall away!

Mission = Change

This week was wonderful. You know when you feel like you have done nothing and then you look back at the week and it seems like you did everything. Well this week is one of those weeks!

We have been working with this less active sister and she is so wonderful! Her name is Silvia and she knows how precious this gospel is. She loves learning about the church! I love how much passion she has for the truth. I wish I had as much love of the gospel as Silvia does! She is such and example to me!

This morning I was reading in Luke 15. Funny thing Dad how you are going to be teaching about the prodigal son! But it was a great a couple verses that I love is verse 7! It talks about how the one person that repents is better than the 99 people that don't! Wow we need Christ in our lives more than we think we do! He is the one we should depend on! Repenting is a hard thing to do but we all need to do it! Go read Luke 15! I love it and it can help with everything that is happening around us!

Kathy! She is one of investigators. She is also the mom of our recent converts! We taught her about the Plan of Salvation! Love that Plan of Happiness! Mosiah 4:7-9 and 16:7-9 Those talk about the Plan of Happiness! She told us that she does not want to be baptized but she will come to church! Better than nothing right! Yeah but she does believe a lot of the things we teach her! So hopefully as time goes by she will gain a testimony and want to be baptized!

We also had zone conference with president! And we learned how to help investigators live the gospel more fully! That was helpful!

Well I love you all! Have a great week especially you Katie! I love you and am thinking about you all the time!

Miracles Happen!

This week seemed like it flew by! So many miracles happened this week! We were able to put 3 people on a baptismal date! It is cool to see how many people accept to be baptized! We were planning on them coming to church but they weren't able to make it. Hopefully they can make it to church next week! I am so excited to Skype next week!!!!!!!!

The work is going well this week we were so busy we could not fit in everyone that we needed to. Pamela is doing good she has a desire to be baptized. We just need to help her quit smoking! Hopefully she will stop soon! She may be moving so that is sad. We will get her in touch with the missionaries in Indy if that happens!

Okay so really wonderful thing happened this week! A lady called us this week. She is a less active member. Her name is Silvia. So she called us and wanted us to come and visit her! She has not been to church in about 5 years and she is the only member of the church in her family! Her husband died about 3 years ago. She came to church on Sunday! When we went to her house you could feel the Spirit there so strong! She is the sweetest lady! We think she is around 60! I cried when I was over there but the thing is I do not cry. ahahah She has so much faith and we gave her BOM because she lost hers. She loved church and she already has so many friends! I love her so much and I was able to see a glimpse of how much love God has for each of us! He will always be there for us! She found our number on a pass along card from years ago and called us! Wow!

I don't have any pictures this week! But I love you all and hope you have a wonderful week! I will see you on Sunday!

Best week ever!

Allyson with Sister Fowler - a missionary that was in her MTC district.
Well this week was so great! We were so busy and that is always great in missionary work! We are trying to get 3 people to baptism right now! Crystal, Pamela, and Beth! They are all doing very well! They all want to be baptized for the right reasons, it is just getting them there that is the problem! I think the hardest thing for all of them is coming to church right we were planning on 5 investigators coming to church yesterday and none of them showed up. I don't let it get to me as much as I used to anymore. It is just sad to see the people we teach not want to keep their commitments. But hey, they've got to want it! But don't think my week was sad because it was so wonderful!

Oh and Sunday we had a broadcast! That broadcast was wonderful! We had Elder Neil L Anderson and Robert D Hales speak! Those two are some of my favorites. They talked a lot about family relationships and being a witness to everyone you meet of Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ is truly the center of everything I do and everything the church is about! I loved the scripture he shared! Doctrine and Covenants 45:9 "to be a light to the world, and to be a standard for my people". Wow, we can be a light to everyone around us! We can bring them the happiness that we have just by being their friend and inviting them to church and other activities!

We had a youth fireside that we went to this week! It was so great and one of the speakers talked about the atonement and how is intertwined with families! People come and go in our lives but our family does not! They stay! We are always there and we all love each other even though sometimes we fight. If you can imagine that love multiplied by infinity! That is how much love Christ has for us! Wow, almost unimaginable for us! That is what the atonement is - UNIMAGINABLE LOVE!

Okay now funny story of the week! So we were driving to Moorseville this week! Actually it was Saturday! Anyways I was driving and a construction crew cut a huge hole in the road and it was raining a lot on Saturday.... So there are not many warning signs for this hole in the road. We hit it and you know how I said it was raining. Well the hole is filled with dirt. You know what rain does to dirt right. So we hit this hole and there is no dirt so it is just a deep hole. The hole bends the rim and we get a flat tire. So now we are on a spare tire while our rim is getting fixed! TADaaaa. We had some fun!

Well I love you all. Hope you have had a great week and I hope you have a great week!
